Terminology – bank and insurance ‘products’

Banks, export credit agencies (ECAs) and private insurance companies provide various types of financial services to their customers, like guarantees, letters of credit, export credit insurance and other services explained in our eLearning courses. These types of financial services are sometimes called ‘products’, a modern term for financial services provided by banks and other financial institutions. Although the term product is not inappropriate, it is not used in our eLearning courses. We use the exact names of financial services and transactions as they are used in international trade. This is because our eLearning courses are created for educational purposes, and it is easier to learn and memorise the exact names of the financial services explained.
